Well I am not sure exactly where to begin since it has been nearly 6 months since we updated. Maybe I will just try to update more often and just start from there. That may be easier than trying to play catch up! We are doing good! Hope all is well!

Mike's bday & Our 1 Year Anniversary!!!

Today we celebrated our 1 year anniversary together! I can’t believe it has been a year! It seems like just yesterday we were at the church getting ready to get married! It has been a wonderful 1st year! No big plans, just hung out with each other! We went to church this morning….what better place to be than where we were a year ago in God’s house? Then my mom took us out to eat at Country Kitchen, which was wonderful! We went back to my parent’s house for a few gifts and to eat the top of our cake….which was still just as good as it was a year ago! (Thank you Lenny, for the best cake!) And thank you to my parents for another set of china! I think we only need 1 or 2 more to have a complete set of 12! We came back home and watched our wedding DVD! It made me nervous just watching it like I was getting married all over again! Then our good friends Jennifer & Judson called and wanted to take us to dinner…we had our favorite, Mexican! Thanks Jennifer & Judson for our supper!

We also celebrated Mike’s birthday this past Tuesday! We went with several of our friends to eat crawfish at Ruben’s. We had a really good time!

I am off for a week for spring break! This is a break that is long overdue for me! Hopefully, I will be able to catch up on some things and just relax!

Snow!!!

It snowed here last night and some today! It was so cold when we went out that we couldn't stay out for long. It was nice to see snow on the ground....it has been so long since I can remember seeing that much snow in Columbus. It is pretty much all gone now, but it was nice while it lasted for a few hours! The snow/ice stuck to poor little Maggie. It was clumped in here hair. We had to bring her in and get the hair dryer on her to melt it. We could not pull it out! Poor thing was soooo cold! Here are a few picts.

Brian's 40th Birthday!

Last Saturday, my family made a "quick" trip to Pratville, AL for my cousin, Brian's 40th birthday! Since my family has gotten so big, we had to take 2 vehicles to get us all there. So we took my mom's suburban and my dad’s truck. Mike and I rode with my sister, Dustin, and Aubrie Kate. My mom, dad, Matthew & Jennifer rode in my dad’s truck. We stopped in Tuscaloosa and ate at Red Lobster. The food was so good! Then back on the road again to Prattville. Aubrie Kate was so good during the long ride. She did not fuss one time that day! Sarah really has such a good baby! When we got to Prattville, we were able to go by Brian’s new house! It was super nice! So glad we were able to see it! For dinner, we ate at The Catfish House. It was really good also. There was a really good turn out; a lot of friends and family were able to make it. After we ate, we headed back to Columbus. Long trip, but it was worth it! He had a really good birthday! Enjoyed getting to spend it with you! Happy 40th Brian!!!!

An attempt to catch you up….

We celebrated many birthdays in November and December! My brother, Matthew’s and a good friend of ours, Judson’s, birthday was in November. Happy birthday to both of yall! December birthdays included Mike’s Aunt Marcia, mine, Laura’s, Jennifer Littlejohn, Madeline Dale, my grandmother’s, and Tammy Aldridge and then of course Jesus’! So happy birthday to all! My parents celebrated 33 years together also in December! Happy Anniversary to yall too!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. My favorite part of both of these holidays is all of our families being together. Mike’s family has family gatherings quite often, but all of my family usually is only together on holidays. I just love spending time with family during the holidays. I plan to post pictures from Christmas at some point when I get them from my mom. I lost my camera first thing Christmas morning after only a few pictures. But we had a great time. Christmas is always rushed for us, but we somehow seem to make it everywhere we have to be. We started at 6:30 Christmas morning and finally finished up around 6:30 Christmas night!

Now we are getting ready for a new year! What will be going on in 2009…..

Mike and I will be celebrating an anniversary before we know it! I can’t believe we have been married for nearly a year!

Aubrie Kate will turn 1 year this summer!

My brother Jacob and his fiancé are getting married on July 11!

For a little bad news that we hope gets better, Mercedes has cut their workers way, way back on their hours. They cut all Fridays out this past October. So he was only working 32 hour weeks. We made it on that. Then the next thing we knew, they cut them back about a month and a half. He has been off since December 11 and does not return to work until January 20. When they go back, they will only be working 30 hour weeks until March. Then he is off for a month in the summer! So we will be watching our spending and praying that things get better!
But we are looking forward to a new year!

Well we took Maggie to get her haircut Tuesday. It was the first time we took her to the place we took her yesterday. She has had her hair trimmed once before. We told the lady we wanted the hair on her legs and paws cut off pretty good and also the hair around her head. Well when I went back to pick her up, I did not even recognize my little baby. She looks naked to me! She is not going to stay chocolate thats for sure. The hair on her ears is still pretty chocolate, but her little body is a mixture between a silver and a cream with a little hint of chocolate. Not quite sure what color she is going to be yet. But here are some pictures of her new haircut!

I know, I know, I have not done a good job at blogging since I went back to work. Although for the most part, I have pretty good kids this year, it still has been exhausting. I am really enjoying my kids this year, but for some reason it has been much harder on me this year. I think it has a little to do with us being married and me adjusting to all the changes while working. Mike works 2 weeks of days then 2 weeks of nights. While he is working nights, I don’t sleep good…at all! I have finally figured out that my best bet is to just sleep on the couch until he gets home. So that in itself is exhausting. And when he works days, it is hard for me to go back to sleep after he leaves at 4:30, so here again I have to get up on and sleep on the couch for about another hour. I said all of that to say that I was in major need of a day off! So after much debate with myself this week, I decided to take off tomorrow. I really hate to complain since teachers have so many days off during the year! And I really hate to take off of work! But maybe it is just all of the adjusting? Who knows, I just hope it gets better!

Enough about me, our little niece is growing so fast. She has gotten so big! She is also so sweet. She just smiles and coos at you.

And for my little baby Maggie, she is getting big too! She is too sweet….but she does have a little wild streak in her!

It's been a while....

Well it has been a while since I have posted. So I thought I would update you on what has been going on. We went back to school on August 1st and our students came back on the 6th. So far, so good! No complaints except for the early mornings! To help myself get off to any easier start of school this year, I made all of my copies at the end of last year! You have no idea what a tremendous help that has been! I don’t feel so stressed trying to get my stuff in order and I have more time to focus on what is most important….the kids! I seem to have really good kids this year, which I am very thankful for! I have many kids that I know or know their parents….that seems to always help! I also have nearly all of the teacher’s kids! This can be a little intimidating sometimes, but hopefully everything will be fine. The reason I feel intimidated is because all of the teachers who have kids in my class have been there longer than I have and know so much more. But I am always open to new ideas! Love any advice anyone gives! So that is how my school year has started so far!

And as for my little baby, Maggie, she is getting so big and growing so fast! When we took her to the vet for the first time, she weighed 4 pounds! She goes back on Monday, August 19 and I bet she has doubled her weight! She is a chocolate color right now, but her hair growing underneath is a white or silver kind of color! I was hoping she would stay chocolate, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen! She is so playful now and so much fun! Here are a few pictures of her lately!

An update on our baby, Maggie…..

Maggie went to the vet for the 1st time yesterday. She did very good considering everything she had done! They checked her stool, she got a shot, first time for flee medicine, and another dose of medicine by mouth! To say the least, she was traumatized for the rest of the afternoon! She slept all afternoon and all night! The pictures I am posting are of her sleeping yesterday afternoon after the vet…..she was knocked out and in some crazy positions!
Oh and by the way this is little puppy has put a big strain on my sleep! We went to bed at 10 last night. She was up at 1am and then again at 3:45am. After that she slept until about 8:15 this morning. So I have been up every morning between 7am & 8am with this puppy! If you know me, I can easily sleep til 11:00 with no problem! But I guess she is just getting me ready to go back to school on Friday!

Sweet Aubrie Kate is growing like a weed!

Just wanted to show you how much sweet little Aubrie Kate is growing! She will be 4 weeks old on Friday! She is growing like a little weed! She and Sarah are still doing great. But I believe Aubrie Kate is going to be a wild child or as my grandmother calls her "firecracker"....since she was born on the 4th of July! She sleeps good when she stops fighting her sleep; Sarah said she just lays in bed and looks at her for hours at night before she will fall asleep! But she is still the sweetest baby! I just love her! I can't keep my hands off of her when she is around! Sarah fusses at me because when I walk in the house the first thing I do is go get Aubrie Kate (even if she's asleep). Sarah is like "leave her alone if she's asleep!" They come to visit us a couple of times a week and of course I go to my parents to see her on the days they don't come over here! Our New Addition

We have a new addition to the Harris Family. We have a new baby chocolate Shih Tzu puppy. Her name is Maggie. She is 7 weeks old today! We went to Parrish, AL yesterday to pick her up from a guy who works with Mike at the plant and breeds several different kinds of dogs. They told Mike they were going to give us a puppy….whichever we wanted! At this time, they had Shih Tzu puppies and 2 chocolate cocker spaniels. All of them were so pretty; it was hard for us to choose. But we decided to go with the Shih Tzu. She is a sweet baby. Although, she interrupted my sleep by a long shot, I guess she’s a keeper! Ha! We love her. Thank you Terry & Micki for the puppy!

A great friend of mine, Lynda Boozer, passed away on Sunday night. I met her in 2000 when I started working at the Dunn, Webb & Hemphill, P.A. She was the receptionist/secretary. I worked as a runner at the law office all through my college years. So we were together everyday for 5&1/2 years. Lynda became very dear to me. She always encouraged me to do whatever I would have in mind. She pushed me through school even when I would get discouraged. Lynda and I could talk for hours and hours and we would still have something to say. She made laugh every single day. About 3-4 years ago, she became sick. She went to the doctor and they sent her to Dr. Whitecar's office. There, they found signs of Leukemia. Her doctors appointments went on and on and on. She had bone marrow after bone marrow and test and different medicines and shots. They would say it was Leukemia and then they would say it wasn't. She struggled with this for years and did really well through all of it. But, this past year really got her down. She came to my parents house one day before my wedding to give us a gift. (this is the picture that I posted). I wanted to get a picture with her although I look absolutely terrible, and she is pretty sick in the picture. That day I knew would be my last day with her. After she left, I went to my room and cried for a while. She could hardly make it walking and talking. Sunday night, I prayed really hard for her because I had heard she wasn't going to make it much longer. I asked God to send her a miracle or take her out of her misery and Monday morning I woke up and had a text saying she had passed in the night. Lynda was 67 when she passed. She taught me so much. I will miss her so much, but I know she is in a better place! I love you Lynda!

Busy Weekend

This past weekend was very busy. My cousin, his wife, and their son came to visit Aubrie Kate and and Mike played in a fundraiser softball tournament for a kid with cancer in Caledonia. I can’t remember the kid’s name, but he is 23 and had spinal cancer, then I think he went into remission and it came back along with lung cancer also. I am not sure how much they made, but I think they did pretty good. They had 12 teams in the tournament. Mike’s team got beat out after 2 games, but the team as a whole did really good! They just put a team together of guys who like to play softball and the 2 teams they played were actual teams who play all of the time.
We really enjoyed the visit with Brian & his family although we missed Whitney (their daughter). She had a better offer; she went to the beach with some friends. We don’t get to see them often since they live in Prattville. So I am glad they came to see the baby. I am attaching a picture with them and the baby and a couple from the softball tournament!

Mike and I went to Sandestin this past week! We had a great time. We didn’t do much, which was very relaxing. We just hung out on the beach everyday and went to eat at night! Our condo was very nice and we had never stayed in Sandestin before. The Baytown Wharf was a neat place to see and had lots to do! We didn’t take too many pictures since it was just us two, but here are a few we asked other people to take.

Our sweet little niece has us posting more blogs than ever! But, we are heading out Sunday night for the beach so this will be our last post for a while. We are going to Sandestin, FL and will be back on Saturday the 12th! We hate to leave little Miss Aubrie Kate, but it will give her and her mommy some time to rest.

We went back to see her again today at the hospital! She was so sweet! But she was extremely worn out. She slept most of the day; she barley even got up to eat! They are coming home tomorrow. My daddy is cooking them a steak dinner and having the family over. We can't wait to get her home! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Aubrie Kathleen Forrester was born Friday, July 4, 2008 at 5:41 p.m. She weighed 8 pounds and 13 ounces. She was 22 ½ inches long. She was a BIG baby! I had the honor to be in the room during the delivery. This was my first experience in seeing anything like this! All of my friends have babies and I have heard their play-by-play of babies being born, but their stories did not justify being able to actually experience the birth of a child. Thank you Sarah for allowing me to experience Aubrie Kate’s birth with you!

Sarah did really good! She started pushing somewhere around 5:10 and by 5:41, we had a beautiful baby girl. She looks just like her mommy! I am so proud of Sarah. Having this baby at this time in her life was not exactly what was in her plans. But God has a unique way of everything happening for a reason. Sarah has had to make many changes in her life. She had dreams of being an attorney; these dreams will probably be hard for her to accomplish now. So she has changed her plans to be able to take care of her little girl. She does have plans to finish college hopefully in the next couple of years to be an elementary teacher. Good luck Sarah! Mike and I will be here to help you in any way that we can! We love you!

Mike and I got married March 15, 2008. We were married at Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. We went on our honeymoon to a resort in Cancun Mexico. It was so nice; it was great being able to just relax after all of the wedding planning. A little background on us...we met through mutal friends and dated for 4 ½ years prior to getting married. We love being married and can’t wait to see what all God has in store for us. I will add more photos from our wedding soon.
